Upper Mustang Trekking is an ultimate gateway to the lost kingdom of Lo-Manthang, the mysterious old Buddhist kingdom. Situated far away from the developed cities, Upper Mustang has saved its distinct culture, tradition, and practices for decades.

Trekking in Upper Mustang was closed for decades before it got opened in 1992. Even after that only around 1000 people can travel to this region every year. This measure has prevented and protected the fragile environment and rich cultural heritage of Upper Mustang. Upper Mustang Trek is a rare privilege that only a handful of people have got. If you are someone intrigued by legends, myths, mysteries, and traveling back in time, then Upper Mustang Trek 17 days is the ideal package for you. This trek will literally take you back in time, where everything is still intact as it was hundreds of years ago.

During the Upper Mustang Trek, you will observe and experience a very old-style of living, ancient monasteries, fortresses, and several mani walls. Along the way, you will come across numerous stupas, gompas, chortens, and prayer flags. The trek begins from Jomsom and gradually ascends towards Lo-Manthang. On the way, you will pass by many narrow routes, apple orchards, moraines, and passes. The best thing about Upper Mustang Trekking is that you can do it in the rainy season as well because most parts of the Upper Mustang region comes under the rain shadow of Annapurna and Dhaulagiri ranges.

Overall, Upper Mustang Trek 17 days is an adventurous and wild trek in the Himalayas. From stunning views of the Himalayan mountains like Mt. Annapurna (8,091 m), Mt. Machhapuchhre (6,993 m), Mt. Dhaulagiri (8,167 m), Mt. Nilgiri (7,061 m), Tilicho Peak (7,134 m), Yakawa Kang (6,482 m), etc to the Kali Gandaki river, which is a centuries-old river flowing from Tibetan plateau. Upper Mustang Trek presents amazing natural wonders to enjoy. As per the Nepal government, you have to trek with a registered local company with a licensed guide and two members in the group (not including the guide) to join Upper Mustang Trekking. Lots of thoughtful efforts have been imposed by the authorities to make sure our excursion to this secluded part of the Himalayas doesn't harm it in any way.
